We can admire many new photos from the legacy of Loránd Eötvös, a physicist, inventor, mountaineer and namesake of our University, thanks to the Geological Survey, the Hungarian Museum of Technology and Transport and Fortepan, which has made the photos widely available. The physicist's legacy includes stereo photos and glass negatives of turn-of-the-century Budapest, Buda, which was just being built, high-altitude hikes in the Alps, and various physics experiments. It is worth looking through the hundreds of photos, which give us an insight into the world of the adventurous and experimental physicist.

The photos from the estate of Loránd Eötvös not only provide insight into the everyday life of contemporary Budapest, but also into the trips, mountaineering adventures and time spent at home of the Eötvös family – especially the father and his two daughters.
